Memorial Day…the unofficial start to summer, and the culmination of a three-day weekend for most. A day filled with barbecues, parades, and other summer pleasures. Which ever way you’re spending your Memorial Day, take a moment to reflect upon the true meaning of the day.
Take a moment to remember my fallen brothers and sisters who so honorably and selflessly paid the ultimate sacrifice in their service to others.
Remember my brothers and sisters who currently serve or have served in forward areas. Men and women, whom bravely overcome their own fears as they face untold dangers for the sake of their fellow man.
But above all, remember the families of my brothers and sisters who have also given the ultimate sacrifice to our nation. Fathers, mothers, sons and daughters who have lost their loved ones in the thick of war, remember their grief.
“The nation which forgets its defenders will be itself forgotten.” Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933)
